Description

Epichlorohydrin

Epichlorohydrin is a colorless oily liquid with irritating odors such as ether and chloroform, which is flammable, volatile, toxic and narcotic. Relative density 1.1812, melting point – 25.6 C, boiling point 117.9 C, with ethanol, propanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, trichloroethylene and carbon tetrachloride and many other organic solvents miscible, soluble in benzene, slightly soluble in water, because the molecular structure contains active chlorine atoms and epoxy, so the chemical activity, hydrolysis into alpha-chlorine. Glycerol, regenerated into glycerol.

Use Of Epichlorohydrin :

2-acrylamide-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) has polymeric vinyl group and hydrophilic sulfonic group within its molecule. It can copolymerize with water-soluble monomers such as acrylonitrile, acrylamide, styrene and vinyl chloride. The introduction of hydrophilic sulfonic acid group in the polymer can make the fibers and films have moisture absorption, permeability and conductivity. It can be used in papermaking industry and wastewater treatment. As paint modifier, fiber modifier and medical polymer. 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropionic sulfonic acid can be copolymerized as well as homopolymer. The average heat of polymerization of 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropionic sulfonic acid in water is 22 kcal/kurlamide. Water-soluble ammonium persulfate and hydrogen peroxide are commonly used as initiators.
