Benzoic acid is a weak acid and stronger than fatty acids. Their chemical properties are similar, and they all form salts, esters, acid halides, amides, acid anhydrides, etc., which are not easily oxidized. An electrophilic substitution reaction can occur on the benzene ring of benzoic acid, and a meta-substitution is mainly obtained.
