Description

Dimethyl sulfoxide

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a sulfur-containing organic compound, English Dimethyl sulfoxide, molecular formula (CH3) 2SO, colorless and odorless transparent liquid at room temperature, hygroscopic flammable liquid, high polarity Sexual, high boiling point, aprotic, water-miscible, very low toxicity, good thermal stability, not mixed with alkanes, soluble in most organic substances such as water, ethanol, propanol, ether, benzene and chloroform, Known as “universal solvent.” It is the most soluble one among the commonly used organic solvents. It dissolves most organic matter, including carbohydrates, polymers, peptides, and many inorganic salts and gases.

Use Of DMSO:

It is used for aromatic hydrocarbon extraction, reaction medium for resin and dye, acrylic fiber polymerization, solvent for spinning, and the like. Can be used as organic solvent, reaction medium and organic synthesis intermediates. It is extremely versatile. In medicine, dimethyl sulfoxide has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. This carrier property of dimethyl sulfoxide can also be used as an additive for pesticides. Adding a small amount of dimethyl sulfoxide to some pesticides helps the pesticide to penetrate into the plant to improve the efficacy. Dimethyl sulfoxide can also be used as a dyeing solvent, de-staining agent, dyeing carrier for synthetic fibers, as an absorbent for recovering acetylene and sulfur dioxide, as a synthetic fiber modifier, as antifreeze, as well as a capacitor medium, brake fluid, and rare metal extraction.
