Furfural

Furfural is a colorless and transparent oily liquid produced by hydrolysis and dehydration of pentosan in plant fiber raw materials. It is also called furan formaldehyde. It has a special aroma and its color quickly turns yellow under the action of light, heat, air oxidation and inorganic acid. It is brown and finally dark brown. It is also easy to polymerize and is in the form of a resin.

Use Of Furfural:

It is mainly used as an industrial solvent for the preparation of decyl alcohol, decanoic acid, tetrahydrofuran, γ-valerolactone, pyrrole, tetrahydropyrrole and the like. Used as an analytical reagent. Used as a raw material for organic synthesis, also used in synthetic resins, varnishes, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, rubber and coatings. Used for tanning leather. It should be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse, protected from light, to prevent exposure to sunlight, and away from fire.
